INTECH4WATER (PR FESR 21-27)

INTECH4WATER - INtegrated TECHnologies for pollutants in (waste)WATERservices is a PR-FESR 2021-2027 project coordinated by Terra&AcquaTech and implemented with the support of European funds from the Emilia-Romagna Region.

INTECH4WATER operates within the thematic framework of the Circular Economy, focusing on the valorization, reuse, and recycling of wastewater derived from municipal and industrial purification processes. The project integrates innovative, safe, and sustainable technologies into a single system. The envisaged technologies aim to achieve almost complete reduction of the most common contaminants in wastewater (nutrients, emerging (micro) pollutants, microplastics, pathogenic bacteria), including: ceramic/photocatalytic/adsorbent filters, advanced oxidation processes, UV, ozone, and microalgae. The project involves an initial and intensive laboratory-scale phase during which the best integration of transferable technologies will be developed. In a subsequent phase, the integrated system will be scaled up to a prototype level. All experimental steps will be guided by advanced statistical analyses and accompanied by chemical-biological-microbiological analyses. The anticipated final results include the valorization of treated water for irrigation purposes, the production of secondary raw materials for use as fertilizers or feed, and microalgal biomass for the energy sector.

PROAMBIENTE possesses expertise in the purification of water from Industrial and Mining Effluents (MIE) using Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) and analysis of aqueous matrices. The organization will contribute to the design and implementation of innovative systems for the analysis of complex aqueous matrices and the quantification of one or more analytes. PROAMBIENTE will conduct AOP tests and filtrations on small volumes using reactors to fine-tune treatment methodologies.
