DeLIVER (PR FESR 21-27)

DeLIVER - Decisions on logistics' impact value in Emilia-Romagna is a PR-FESR 2021-2027 project coordinated by GeoSmart.Lab (Sis-ter s.r.l.) and implemented with the support of European funds from the Emilia-Romagna Region.

In Emilia-Romagna, the logistics sector comprises 9,900 businesses, employs approximately 80,500 people, and generates a revenue of 13 billion euros (2021 data). It is widely recognized that this sector is often associated with traditional and labor-intensive practices, requiring significant innovation in terms of environmental and social impact. DeLIVER provides a tool capable of quantifying the environmental and social impact of large logistics hubs on the territory, assisting decision-making processes related to logistics and infrastructure development. To achieve this, the project will integrate Big Data, traffic microsimulations, environmental surveys, and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for impact mitigation. As a use case, the project examines the Interporto of Bologna, one of the most important Italian and European logistics hubs, and the metropolitan area including surrounding municipalities. With the collaboration of stakeholders and involved businesses, the entire area will be digitized, and a strategic intervention will be hypothesized (expansion of Interporto/modification of connecting infrastructure). The developed tool will be capable of quantifying changes in terms of impact and suggesting NBS for mitigation.

PROAMBIENTE will carry out measurement campaigns in sites of high interest and research, as well as the collection of open data related to pollutants and atmospheric parameters of interest. The expertise will include: the use and management of reference systems and sensors for detecting atmospheric particulate matter and carbon dioxide, hardware and software development (sensor or commercial system interfacing with Python/C++, data management, communication, and sending information to remote servers) for system integration.
